How to Get Up Off the Floor (and How to Get Down)

It’s important to know how to get up when we’re down. I wish my late aunt had known this because one fall after another changed her life, and not for the better. Many of my acupuncture patients are up in years and as wonderful as acupuncture is to help us age with grace and ease, it’s important to take steps to ensure that should we slip, we know how to get vertical. The Feldenkrais instructor in this video also demonstrates how to get onto the floor from a standing position.

It’s common to get down to do exercise but many people are at a loss as to how to get up without holding onto a chair. Often when a person falls, there is nothing to grab onto.

Also important, at any age, is to watch where you place your feet. Even if we’re careful, there’s always a curb we didn’t see or an object that shouldn’t be where it is. A good idea not to live in fear, but to get smart, sooner rather than later.

As a reminder, I treat women of all ages (and families for PAIN, STRESS and MORE) with not only needles but needle-free techniques as well. Acupuncture works!
