How to keep keeping on in 2022
Another Year Over and Another Begins
We are living in interesting times, for sure. How do we move forward with so much information and misinformation swimmng around in our heads? How do we keep moving on when we don’t know what’s up ahead?
It seems the sensibile way to approach our lives is to accept where we are and do all we can with what we have. It’s important to know our limits and to have good boundaries. People can be touchy and frustrated to the point that they look for someone to target. Airplane violence just one example. It’s easy to take slights personally but that doesn’t get us very far nor does it build up spiritual strength. When we go to the gym or exercise to build muscles, it takes effort.
Same is true with letting go of anger/sadness/desire for things to be different.
One way to help build spiritual muscle is to put ourselves in another person’s shoes. Perhaps the person who insulted or rubbed us the wrong way is going through a dark night of the soul. Maybe they are grieving a spouse or a parent, or maybe they lost a job or a dream. We are really not the target. People project onto others what’s bothering them. Yet we take the stuff of others to heart. People are especially vulnerable around the holidays and much more so as the year winds down.
