Virgin Coconut Oil; Why We Ought to Use It
Taking a teaspoon of coconut oil every day helps burn belly fat
because it speeds up metabolism. But know that taking too much early
in the morning can make you sleepy, so you might try taking a teaspoon
in late evening to see if it doesn’t help you have a more restful
night.
Have you heard of oil pulling? When you take a little oil in your
mouth and swish it around for a while, it pulls bacteria and metals
out of your gums (your brain is right above your gums) and mouth. It’s
particularly useful for swollen parotid glands. But start slow because
when swished too quickly and for too long, you can experience a detox
reaction. As a bonus, coconut oil helps whiten the teeth.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid which helps contain harmful yeast in
the digestive tract. A functional MD I know suggests sprinkling
unsweetened coconut on every meal to control overgrown yeast. Coconut
in itself is delicious and hardly anyone has any complaints about the
taste. But not everyone likes the taste of coconut oil–for those who
simply can’t “stomach” it, it can be rubbed on the whole body after a
hot shower. Just be careful when you apply it on your feet that you
let it penetrate the soles, then wipe them off so you don’t slip. It
can also help beautify the nails, skin and hair.
My husband is not a lover of coconut oil so when I fry eggs in the
morning, I don’t use coconut oil when preparing his breakfast. I find
when I have a little coconut oil in the morning, I’m not as hungry
during the day. Plus it reduces inflammation in the gut as it contains
medium chain triglycerides that boost the immune system to fight off
infections.
There are reports that coconut oil increases the good cholesterol
making it healthy for the heart. Feel free to research coconut oil on
your own but do be cautious you use only products that are clean and
without preservatives or additives. And it's always a good idea to
talk to your health practitioner and have them muscle test the product
for you.
